About the Role

 

The Senior Analyst, Research and Data role sits within the Information Research and Analytics team. A team dedicated to collecting and curating safety and security performance information to support decision makers and inform regulatory education programmes and insight/intelligence reports for the aviation sector. 

This role involves interrogating the Authority’s databases, using Databricks, as well as contemporary analytical tools, such as SQL, R, Power BI; and applying appropriate statistical methodologies to conduct complex data analysis and provide high quality insights to support decision-making across the Authority.

 

Wellington location preferred.

 

The salary band for the Senior Analyst, Research and Data starts at $115,536 to a maximum of $161,412. Starting salaries are be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, as well as internal relativities.

 

What You’ll Bring

 

You’re a team player with a great attitude, ready to roll up your sleeves. We’re looking for someone who can take their technical experience and build fresh practices and perspectives with their colleagues, driving continuous improvement and automation initiatives.

You should be a system thinker with a proven track record of working with complex data sets and delivering high-quality data analytics and research products to support evidence-based decision making. You have experience in statistical modelling, data visualisation and reporting, with a strong working knowledge of relational database principles, data modelling and data governance. You are proficient in Databricks, R, SQL, and Power BI or similar tools. You can learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

 

As a Senior you will also bring experience mentoring and collaborating with analysts, digital teams, and users, skilled at creating space for different perspectives and work styles. You will work with various agencies and business units to develop data visualizations, reports, leading indicators, and strategic insights.
