About the role
The Senior Advisor – People at Wellington Airport provides a first point of contact for Human Resources advice and support for local management and staff, supported by the wider People Unit specialists at National Office. The incumbent  works proactively to ensure Managers understand and are able to deliver their people management accountabilities effectively through advising, coaching and the provision of appropriate tools and processes. They are responsible for ensuring a high level of service and support is provided to both staff and management.

 

Based at Wellington Airport, this role is an exciting opportunity to take on challenges within the unique and fast paced aviation industry. This is a 12 month fixed term opportunity. 

 

 

Duties and responsibilities you can expect to undertake include:  

  • Building effective relationships with managers to provide them with coaching and support in the execution of their staff accountabilities. 
  • Working with managers to provide timely proactive and responsive solutions.
  • Providing timely, accurate, best practice services, advice and support to managers across a broad range of HR matters including workforce planning, recruitment, induction, employment relations, remuneration, recognition and reward, development, performance management and change management. 
  • Advising managers of, and support/coaching of managers in, the delivery of their obligations.
  • Contribute as a project team member to a wide range of projects focused on the development of new initiatives, programmes and policies across all aspects of HR and OD.
  • Co-ordinating the delivery of specialist recruitment, health and safety services, employment relations and training and development advice and support to ensure business needs are met.
  • Be involved in monthly management and strategic planning meetings.  This enabling understanding of the key issues for the Station and the plans we have in place to move the Station performance to the next level.

 

To succeed in this role, you would benefit from the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Experience in previous Senior Advisor People roles
  • A strong employment relations background
  • Previous experience providing high quality advice to managers in all human resource related areas
  • Strong partnership builder and sound relationship management skills
  • Strong communication skills that convey messages in a clear manner
  • Flexible, adaptable and pragmatic
