About the role

 

We’re looking for a commercially savvy, strategic thinker to join us as a Senior Advisor, within our Commercial and Procurement Team. In this key role, you’ll bring your expertise in procurement to help shape and influence commercial practice across the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The role is expected to provide senior-level commercial and procurement expertise to corporate services and leaders across the organisation. This includes advising on procurement best practice, policy, and the effective use of All-of-Government contracts, as well as supporting the integration of sustainability and resilience within supplier relationships. The role will also lead key projects and initiatives that contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s broader commercial and procurement strategy.

 

The starting salary for the Senior Advisor, Commercial and Procurement is between $115,536 and $141,751 pa.  Starting salaries are to be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, as well as internal relativities.

Your contribution will be instrumental in supporting the team’s development and setting the tone for how we operate.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to show:

  • Proven experience leading complex procurement, including strategic sourcing, market engagement, and negotiation.
  • Broad technical procurement expertise, with a strong grounding in best practice and diverse methodologies.
  • Skill in building relationships and navigating competing priorities to deliver effective outcomes.
  • An adaptive communication styleand the ability to build rapport and extract key information to inform decisions.
  • A strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems and identify commercial opportunities.
  • Experience mentoring peers, supporting capability growth and promoting best practice
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of NZ Government Procurement and public sector frameworks highly desirable
