About the Role
We are looking for Manager, Payroll to join our Finance and Commercial team, responsible for providing an effective, accurate, and efficient payroll service for a combined workforce of approximately 1,600 employees.

In this varied role, you will proactively identify, develop, and implement payroll functions and procedures to effectively meet the changing needs of the Authority. The payroll function is end to end, including timesheet processing, PAYE and reporting and is processed every fortnight.
 

What You’ll Bring
As an experienced Manager, Payroll, you’ll be familiar with the schedules and demands of a large, shift-based workforce.

To be successful in this role you will have;
 

  • Proven experience in effectively managing and supporting a team across all areas of staff management including performance management.
  • Substantial payroll knowledge gained in a medium to large organisation, preferably a shift work environment with experience managing or leading payroll teams.
  • Robust knowledge of payroll principles and practices as well as a working knowledge of relevant employment and payroll legislation.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant employment legislation including Holidays Act 2003 and   amendments, KiwiSaver Act 2006 and amendments, Parental Leave Act, Taxation, ACC legislation and experience in interpreting employment conditions.
  • Experience in reporting and analysis of data with the ability to identify and implement business improvements that will impact on payroll and any wider HR or Finance functions.
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems such as PayGlobal or SAP, with migration experience advantageous but not required.

The salary band for this position is $115,536 to $161,412, with a midrange of $141,751. The starting salary will be based on the knowledge, skills and experience you may bring to the role and relativities across the organisation.
