About the role:
We’re looking for a motivated and solution-focused Advisor to join our Commercial and Procurement team in Wellington. Please note that this role is based in Wellington, and we're seeking applicants who can work from this region. Unfortunately, there is no flexibility to be based in other locations.
In this role, you’ll help with various procurement and commercial tasks, from preparing documents to giving advice on policy, sustainability, and government contracts. You’ll support managers across the organisation with practical, best-practice guidance.
You’ll also help with project delivery, improve processes, and build strong working relationships across the organisation. Your skills in evaluating costs and risks, reviewing procurement options, and managing contracts will help keep our procurement clear, strong, and ready for the future.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys collaborating with others to find solutions and make a real difference.
The starting salary for the Advisor, Commercial and Procurement within Corporate Services group is between $83,600 and $102,302. Starting salaries are based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, as well as internal relativities.
What You’ll Bring:
We’re looking for a motivated, strategic thinker who builds strong relationships and focuses on getting results. You’ll be ready to help with procurement and commercial projects across the organisation.
To do well in this role, you will have proven experience, ideally in managing end to end open sourcing procurement initiatives ideally within the public sector. You will also have successfully negotiated contracts that reflect the best possible outcomes for an organisation.
Key to succeeding in this role is your ability to show:
- Experience in commercial advisory or procurement, ideally in the public sector
- Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement best practices
- Skills in contract management, negotiating with suppliers, and building relationships
- Ability to understand and evaluate detailed financial, legal, and corporate information
- Great interpersonal skills to work well with people inside and outside the organisation
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail, self-motivation, good organisation, and the ability to work both alone and within a close-knit team
Although you will have firm foundation in procurement practice, there will be opportunities to develop new skills and take on more challenging projects. You will join a small team, so there will be plenty of opportunity for learning and sharing new ideas.
