About the role
Our team is responsible for delivering the Civil Aviation Authority’s investigation function which can vary across investigating accidents, occurrences, security incidents and aviation related concerns. Depending on the complexity of the situation, you could lead and manage the investigation or work as part of a wider team.
You will be getting out and about, engaging with the aviation community, partner agencies, and key business partners to good working relationships and support.
In this demanding role you will be required to travel, including travel to the site of an incident or accident. All Investigators must be medically and physically fit to undertake their role in remote and potentially hazardous locations. This is a nationally focussed role.
The salary band for the Investigator starts at $136,939 to a maximum of $168,191 Starting salaries are to be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, as well as internal relativities.
What You’ll Bring
To be successful in this role, it is essential to have a solid background or a strong aptitude for investigations. You will possess excellent emotional intelligence and resilience to manage in challenging and emotionally difficult situations. It is critical in this role to have strong relationship building skills to develop internal and external relationships to educate and influence at all levels.
We are interested in hearing from people who are excellent communicators, possess high attention to detail and have a good working knowledge of New Zealand Civil Aviation legislative and regulatory framework. You may bring a depth of aviation experience or come from an investigative background – we welcome both.
As a successful and experienced Investigator, you will have:
- A high level of written communication skills
- An aptitude of analysing and understanding system level risks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and confident decision-making capabilities.
- A pragmatic, flexible and adaptable approach.
- The ability to travel
- Full and clean NZ Driver’s License.
