About the Civil Aviation Authority

Our backgrounds are different, but we are united by a common goal to make aviation safe for everyone. Our careers range from aviators to engineers, policy advisers to corporate professionals. We work together to make a world class regulator.

The Civil Aviation Authority is a Crown entity and is responsible for the regulatory oversight of aviation safety in New Zealand. We believe in keeping people safe, helping New Zealand grow and making a difference. We work with aviation operators all over the country to ensure safer skies for all.

The way we do things is essential to achieving our goal of being a world class regulator so people who can recognise components of the larger system, are adept problem solvers, enjoy being part of a team and have an unwavering focus on results will fit in well here.

We have one of the highest rates of aircraft and pilot licences per capita in the world. We work with many different types of aircraft from jets and helicopters to gliders and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).

Our diverse team is focused on contributing to safe and secure skies across New Zealand. Our people range from Flight Operations Inspectors, Airworthiness Engineers and Safety Investigators to Policy Advisors, IT Support Analysts and HR professionals.

We have modern office locations in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch allowing us to span our work nationwide and provide safety oversight to all corners of New Zealand.
